Before Transformation

The primary bedroom had a cool, disconnected feeling. Pale gray-blue walls reflected harsh daylight without softening it, and the dark wood bed frame and nightstands sat heavily against the light carpet. A teal swivel chair and pink-toned bedding introduced color, but without intention — they read as individual purchases rather than a cohesive palette. The taupe curtains hung flat against the windows, and the balcony door framed a beautiful view that the room's interior didn't echo. The tray ceiling went unnoticed, and the overall effect was a bedroom that functioned but never settled.

The Approach

We wrapped the walls in a warm peach tone that immediately changed the room's relationship to light — morning sun now fills the space with a golden glow rather than a clinical wash. The dark wood furniture was replaced with lighter, quieter pieces: a low upholstered headboard in a muted terracotta, a marble-top side table, and a tufted bench at the foot of the bed. Floor-length sheer linen curtains replaced the flat panels, softening the window wall and filtering light into layers. The tray ceiling, previously invisible against gray walls, now reads as an architectural detail — a frame within a frame that draws the eye upward and gives the room vertical breathing room.

After Transformation

The bedroom now feels like it exhales. The peach walls create a cocoon of warmth that the gray never could — the nervous system registers it immediately upon entering. The ensuite bathroom, visible through the open doorway, continues the same tonal palette, extending the sense of sanctuary rather than breaking it. Textured throw pillows in sage and silver replace the mismatched colors with a considered selection that complements without competing. This is a room designed for rest — every surface, every tone, every textile works to quiet the mind and prepare the body for sleep.
